DAWN THOUGHTS
Human is a soulful word, with a long history and a deep connotation.
Thousands of centuries ago, humans are like other animals, struggling just to survive. In order to keep themselves alive, they tried their best to get food and avoid danger. However, food wasn’t enough. As a result, they fought against and killed other people to get more food.
It seems it was dangerous to live with others.
However, they found it necessary to live together, as the power of one person was too small to protect himself. But they weren’t sure if someone would hit them on their backs if they live together.
As a result, since thousands of years ago, human beings have developed a large and complex net of relationships, which is called the society.
This net covers each society member who makes connection with others. It also includes some public rules, which is called laws, to protect each society member’s safety. Each member who tries to break the rules will be punished by the whole society. As a result, nobody would break the rule to hurt
others. A harmonious society is formed.
What makes this big change is the concept change from conflict to coexistence.
Coexistence is a philosophical word. It’s really a great achievement in history. To each ruler, if he does something against the laws but isn’t punished, his people will all think they can break the laws. That means he will be in danger because everyone wants him to die so that they can divide his
wealth and live better. According to that, rulers won’t break the laws because to protect the laws is to protect themselves.
Look at the dynasties which disappeared in the river of history. Almost all of them disappeared because the ruler broke the laws. No coexistence means conflict and death. A wise ruler won’t break the laws not because he’s kind, but because he realize the connotation of coexistence completely.
Philosophy is a kind of cruel elegance. Coexistence is harmonious but indifferent. Being in society, everyone has to socialize. Socializing means needs of safety, and needs of safety lead to coexistence.
